Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark at which point he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his role in the drama show telecast worldwide as The Killing, he subsequently appeared in two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also played a lead role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played the Russian president in the American television series House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award for 2018 for his part on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Alongside his native Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English and has learned different accents. According to Mikkelsen's sources that he and his younger brother were taught English by studying Monty Python records.
